Wellbeing
At Penoffa Farm we give the best life to our animals and they give us the best meat in return when their time comes.
It’s a joy to see young lambs gamboling in the field when the sun comes out in May, banishing the cold and darkness of the winter, or the pigs in the wood in autumn when the oaks give up their harvest and the pigs snuffle around for the prized acorns, that also give them such a fantastic flavour.
Breeding our own animals, and caring for them throughout their lives means we know the provenance of the meat we supply, and that means you know the provenance too.
Whilst our ruminanats (animals that graze) primary diet is grass, we do like to treat them with some ruminant mix for some extra vitamins and nutrition too. Our pigs’ food is balanced with nettles and dock leaves, which whilst considered an undesireable weed in the pasture are a vegetable delight for our pigs, and they contain many medicinal properties and complex nutrients too.
